The Workshops

Do you dread networking events, run out of things to say after “So, what do you do?”, or wonder how to turn a pleasant conversation into an actual connection? This workshop uses activities pulled from the world of improv to help you become more practiced and comfortable when meeting new people, transitioning out of small talk, and building relationships that feel genuine rather than transactional.
What to Expect
In this 2-hour workshop, you'll spend time:
Starting conversations — You'll practice simple ways to open up conversations and move beyond the usual networking script and disparate ice breaker questions
Getting curious — You'll experiment with asking better questions and listening for opportunities to make a conversation more meaningful.
Being more present — You'll practice responding to what's actually happening in a conversation instead of worrying about what you're going to say next.
Making connections — You'll explore how small choices in communication can help create positive first impressions and turn conversations into relationships.
Trying it out in a low-stakes environment — You'll have plenty of opportunities to practice with other participants, without the pressure of an actual industry event.
You'll leave with practical communication tools for meeting new people, having more engaging conversations, and making networking feel a little less awkward—and a lot more human.
About this Workshop:
Experience level: Beginner / No improv experience necessary
Prerequisites: None
Length: 2 hours
Instructor: Courtney Pong, 15-years-long Public Relations professional + 26+ year improv facilitator
⚡️Good to know⚡️: You don't need to love networking to take this workshop. In fact, being a little allergic to the word “networking” might make you exactly the right person for it.
